Let your light shine. At this most critical time in our country’s history, America needs all of her bright lights to shine like beacons in a storm, leading the way to help steer our USA through the darkness of the recession. With job losses, home foreclosures, and the ilk, now is the time for youth especially to step forward with a purpose: to motivate, inspire, unify, work, create, innovate, invent, initiate, to risk, to build on talents, to strategically influence peers.
Aristotle said, “The energy of the mind is the essence of light.” We all know that the gifted especially, are thirsty for knowledge, they understand challenges, they’re intuitive, and with their lateral thinking abilities, dedication and high integrity, they can be energized and active, demonstrate leadership, assume divergent responsibilities, implement plans, and help accelerate America quickly out of this gloomy period into a brighter future.
Virgil wrote: “They can who think they can.” Who can? I can. And you can. More than ever, America needs you—the qualified, passionate educators with domain expertise and credibility. America wants you— the imaginative communicators, mavericks, tinkerers and techies, and expert trainers. America needs you—students of varied ages and ethnicity, interacting, anytime or anywhere, those gifted Americans not afraid to let their creativity blossom.
You cannot afford to be just an Average Joe now. America needs G. I. Joes…. Gifted and Intelligent Joes and Janes who will help lift America out of the Recession by showcasing their skills and talents. James Thurber stated: "There are two kinds of light—the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures." Let’s roll! A problem shared is a problem solved. An old Japanese proverb states: “Darkness reigns at the foot of the Lighthouse.” Help America. Make yourself visible. Reach higher, go to the top. Be a prism for your country. Magnify and reflect your light. Help others help the world. Not only will all the procedures mentioned above lead to your doing good, but you will help create untold opportunities to empower others and truly change lives.

From the 110th Congress
THE INNOVATION
AGENDA
(http://www.speaker.gov/legislation?id=0079)
H.R. 5116: Reauthorization Act of 2010
Ensure our nation's global competitiveness for generations to come, through a new emphasis on math, science, engineering and technology education, and a renewed commitment to basic research.
On August 2, 2007, the House passed the final House-Senate agreement on the America COMPETES Act, H.R. 2272. On August 9, the President signed this bill into law.
This legislation is the culmination of a year and a half-long, bipartisan effort to pass an Innovation Agenda that boldly responds to the global economic challenges identified in the 2005 National Academies report, Rising above the Gathering Storm. It ensures American students, teachers, businesses, and workers are prepared to continue leading the world in innovation, research, and technology well into the future.
A New Generation Of Innovators
America’s greatest resource for innovation is in classrooms across this country. This legislation will train more of our students in math, science, engineering, and technology, to turn ideas into innovative technologies to boost our economy and create good American jobs. Future innovators must reflect the diversity of our country, and our efforts to train them for the global economy must reflect the needs of the marketplace.
To achieve this goal, this legislation:
A Sustained Commitment To Research & Development
Independent scientific research provides the foundation for innovation and future technologies. But U.S. federal funding for R&D has declined steadily over the last decade, and sound science has been compromised by political interference.
This legislation:
A Declaration Of Energy Independence
America must implement a bold energy strategy to create new high-paying jobs, strengthen our national security, reduce costs for American consumers, and reduce global warming. A skilled ‘green’ workforce and new clean energy technologies will be the economic engines of the 21st century.
The 110th Congress is passing separate Energy Independence legislation, as well as in this legislation:
A Focus On Small Business Innovation
Small businesses are often the catalysts for technological innovation. The evolution from idea to marketable product, guided by a successful business plan, has led to entrepreneurial successes that have made small businesses star players in our technological revolution. Yet small businesses face significant hurdles, both regulatory and market-based, that limit their efforts to transform ideas into jobs. Removing these hurdles has been a key goal of the Innovation Agenda.
This legislation:
Favorite Quotes from Jeffrey Gitomer's site:
* Orison Swett Marden (Success and Persistence). Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them.
* Napoleon Hill (Attitude and Goals). All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.
* Elmer Leterman (Creativity and Sales). Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open.
* Earl Nightingale (the Strangest Secret). You become what you think about all day long.
* Charlie "Tremendous" Jones (Speaking and Reading). The only difference between where you are right now, and where you'll be next year at this same time, are the people you meet and the books you read.

We could have all the Congressional Legislation in the world passed, but unless each one of us brings our skills, knowledge, abilities and a positive attitude to America's table, we're going to start falling behind other countries that have found their Purpose and Passion, and have mixed it with Opportunity to equal Success!
We CAN increase cognitive flexibility and emotional agility to see the BIG PICTURE of where we are and where we're going. Forward!
Let's keep everyone aligned to America's mission to be the best we can be, trained and empowered to make the right decisions.
Let's identify and reward those who are multi-functional and have multiple talent and take the initiative to make the world a better place to be.
One business training session I attended said that those businesses with exceptional Leadership Skills had achieved goals with results provided; remonstrated speciafic Leadership qualities; act as mentors/coaches to others; adopt new technolgoeies, collaborate and communicate often and effectively, embrace change, empower employees, foster teamwork and recognition, have global mindsests, innovate, inspire trust, provide regular feedback, think outside the box and strategically.
These organizations have LEADERSHIP who have the potential to lead the training and development function of the organization for the next 1-10 years!
